Tell us your story:: Hi all!

My name's Ralph Sutter, and I'm a 24 year old animation student from the Netherlands. I am currently attending the New England Institute of Art in Boston, MA.

I am hoping to become an animator in the 2D world as soon as I graduate in the fall of '09.

About Me:: So I grew up, was raised, and lived in the Netherlands for almost my entire life. As far as I can remember I pretty much always was into cartoons, and started drawing at a pretty early age. I've been doing it ever since.

Later on in life I met a lovely lady in Boston, she had me come over and I haven't left since. In turn it also gave me the oppurtunity to study animation at a great school.

I'll be graduating in fall of 2009, and hopefully I'll be able to further pursue my career in the 2D animation world.

Favorite Cartoons:: As far as newer animation goes: I love the Venture Brothers, Flapjack, Samurai Jack, and Foster's are all awesome!

Other than that I tend to like most old(er) cartoons, such as Tin Tin, Ghostbusters, Ren and Stimpy, the Tick, Johnny Quest, Popeye, and the Simpsons.

Favorite Films:: Way too many choices... I guess I'll have to stick to my classics.
Jaws, the old Star Wars Trilogy, the Indiana Jones Trilogy (cause I refuse to recognize that IV exists), George Romero's original Dead Trilogy, the Shawshank Redemption... There's so many others... But there's a few of them.

Favorite TV Shows:: Anything 80s... The A-Team, Magyver, Magnum P.I., and ofcourse all of the cartoons from that time were cheesy and great!

Favorite Comics:: Spirou, Tin Tin, Guust Flater, Corto Maltese, Buck Rogers, Lucky Luke.

A lot of older European comics that I grew up reading when I was a kid were just awesome! Most of them were featured in the Spirou magazines, which my dad collected. If you can get your hands on one of the Spirou bundles, check them out!

Favorite Books:: I like a lot of Stephen King's books. But, the one that is far superior to the rest has to be "IT." Great book!

Favorite Artists or Illustrators:: Again, way too many to choose from... Here we go:
Pratt, Herge, Morris, Uderzo, Jije, Rob Velter, Dineur, Lodewijk (Agent 327), Eric Schreurs, Cauvin, Franquin, and many, many others.

Favorite Music:: Just like movies, I love my classics. I'm a big fan of the Beatles, the Doors, Pink Floyd, and Fleetwood Mac. More current stuff that I like would include the Foo Fighters and U2.

Favorite Robots:: Radar the Robot (character in a Spirou comic), any robot that has lasers (cause you know the Dutch love lasers), and Fred...

Hey everyone!

I came back yesterday from a trip to the Netherlands, and I realized I had not posted anything in my blog yet. So what better than to begin with a portrait of a Belgian farmer that I felt inspired to do after having been to Belgium (Antwerp specifically).

It is still a work in progress, but I hope to finish it by the end of next week. But please, feel free to critique... Actually, I insist!

I don't know what the hell is going on! Our school is run by idiots.
