Looking for Flash books

I'm wondering if anyone can suggest to me a good how-to-use Flash book.

I'm not looking for a real beginners guide, I can use the program. I was hoping to find a book that might teach more useful stuff to a person in the animation production line. I've already got "Animating with Flash 8" by Alex Michael, but that book talks a lot about action scripting and animating for online games and websites, which is completely useless to me. I'm looking for something with tips to make your production efficient and tricks to make things easier.

So, if anyone could please suggest to me some books and perhaps explain why said book(s) is/are good, it'd be much appreciated. : )

I love the book "How To Cheat In Adobe Flash CS3" by Chris Georgenes. Lots of practical tips and tricks. ISBN: 978-0-240-52058-2

Chris's site is http://www.keyframer.com

I second "How to Cheat in Flash CS3" by Chris Georgenes. It's a nice book that covers a lot of different types and styles of flash animation.

This is the only one that sticks out in my mind right now. Hope it helps!

Are you looking for books based on special effects or action scripting? A book I use on a daily bases is book entitled Hollywood 2d Digital Animation: The New Flash Production Revolution it's a very good book.

Well, I dont have any use for action scripting, and my work is mostly character animation. If I get another book, though, I'd like to get one that has full-production Flash instructions and tips as well.

So, from my impression, "How to Cheat in Flash" will help me out with my character animation, but if I want help for my full productions, I should look at the Foundations book? I looked at their sample chapter, that looks excellent. It's beginner stuff that I already know, but it's more than my current book has! If they're building on that for the following chapters, I'd like to see what it has.

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone! Are there any more out there?

I've got Flash Cartoon Animation - learn from the pros, by Kevin Peaty and Glenn Kirkpatrick. This one covers using traditional animation principles in Flash. It'd be worth checking it out on Amazon or the Friends of Ed website (www.friendsofed.com).

I've also got The Art Of Cartooning In Flash, by John Kuramoto, Gary Leib and Daniel Gray. That one is published by Sybex (www.sybex.com).

I've just spotted this on Ebay - a lot cheaper than the RRP

So, I finally got How to Cheat in Flash CS3, and I love it! For anyone who's looking for a book, not to learn how to use Flash but how to make your Flash animation more sophisticated and to find efficient methods for animating, this is the book to get. Exactly what I was looking for!

Thanks for the tip on that one! :)
