Tell us your story:
I grew up in a series of smallish towns in the Midwest. There wasn't much to do so I mostly sat around and drew. If I wasn't drawing I was playing video games, which usually happens to be the case now. As I progressed through my studies, only two things really had any meaning for me as far as vocation went: art or English.
When I started trying to be an artist in High school I sort of realized that classical art didn't really appeal to me. I mean, I enjoy looking at it, and I am in awe of it, it just didn't really seem like something I'd like to do with my life. Then, one June, when Cartoon Network was airing their then annual "June Bugs" marathon, it dawned on me: I want to be an animator.
I looked up art schools that offered animation in their curriculum, and decided upon The Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago. It was close enough to my parents (Almost a midpoint between them) and since my uncle didn't seem particularly keen on Columbia College of Art, I decided to go for ILIAC. Because of that decision, I am fully trained in 3D. I don't really enjoy 3D that much, honestly. Because the way my school is set up I sort of emphasized 3D on my demo reel, but my best stuff is my 2D stuff. I decided to suck it in and attempt a 2D job, and here I am.
I work periodically at Calabash Animation in Chicago, working on General Mills commercials.

About Me:
As far as I can tell, piecing together what other people have told me about myself, I come across kind of abrasive at first, but once someone gets used to me they really enjoy my company.
Favorite Cartoons:
I'm not really sure if this is specifically supposed to be tv shows, specific shorts, or just movies, so I'll list the basic stuff

Looney Tunes, the Tex Avery MGM stuff, Lilo and Stitch, Aladdin, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc, Wallace and Grommit.

As for contemporary shows I like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Futurama, The Venture Brothers, Power Puff Girls, Spongebob Squarepants, The Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and I like Southpark and Home Movies but necessarily as cartoons.
Favorite Films:
Duck Soup, Animal Crackers, A Night at the Opera, The Producers, Bananas, Dr. Strangelove, The Day the Earth Stood Still, A Shot in the Dark, Repo Man, Being John Malkovich, The Big Lebowski, Real Genius, Shaun of the Dead, Batman Begins, Shaolin Soccer, Ed Wood, Ghostbusters, Back tot he Future,
Favorite TV Shows:
Mystery Science Theater 3000, Arrested Development, Upright Citizens Brigade, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Flight of the Concords, News Radio, Spaced, Monty Python's Flying Circus
Favorite Books:
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, Choke by Chuck Palinuk, "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris. There's also a ton of books I've been meaning to get around to.
Favorite Robots:
Bender, Klaatu, Tom Servo and I used to have this blue wind up toy robot that sort of looked a barrel with a half dome on top of it. I liked him a lot.

MST3K: OUTLAW

When I have nothing better to do, I like to skip around in Mystery Science Theater episodes, pause and draw what's on screen. You would think I'd do it with better movies, huh? Well the last few days I sat around and drew a bunch of sketches and doodles from the movie Outlaw (aka GOR II: OUTLAW) That's what these all are.
